The low-cost airline Wizz Air is making some adjustments to the route network offered from Vienna-Schwechat. For example, the Kukes destination, which was also intended to serve as an alternative to nearby Pristina, has been abandoned.
The route mentioned between Vienna and the Albanian airport was served for the last time in the middle of this month. In the meantime, Kukes Airport has been completely removed from Wizz Air’s reservation system. This is a clear indication that the carrier is not planning to resume service anytime soon.
The non-stop connection between Tuzla and Vienna currently offered on Mondays and Fridays will also not be continued. This route is scheduled to be served for the last time on September 15, 2023. The background is that the corresponding base and Bosnia will be abandoned. The flight connections to Basel, Berlin, Friedrichshafen, Cologne/Bonn and Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden are also affected by this measure, as these will also be discontinued. Dortmund, Frankfurt-Hahn and Memmingen will continue to be served, in some cases to a much reduced extent.
According to the current state of affairs, the flight connection between Podgorica and Vienna will not be served in the 2023/24 winter flight schedule. This route will be served for the last time on October 26, 2023 and is scheduled to be reactivated on April 2, 2024.
There is an early termination on the Varna-Vienna route. This will be sent to the « winter break » on September 10, 2023 – and thus earlier than originally announced. The Burgas route is to be continued until October 28, 2023 and then also paused over the cold season. From Varna, the destinations Nuremberg, Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden, Frankfurt-Hahn and Liverpool are also affected by the premature temporary suspensions.
