In the UK, the PCS union is calling on its members in various departments for a month-long work stoppage. The border guards, who are responsible for entry controls, are also affected.
It can currently be assumed that the industrial action could also have a negative impact on air travelers. It is not yet clear how many civil servants will actually take part in the strike. In any case, the union is calling on its members to stop work from mid-December 2022 – if no agreement is reached beforehand.
Among other things, PCS explains that many employees are no longer able to cope with the sharp increase in the cost of living. Therefore, significant wage increases are required. Should the strike go ahead, travel between Christmas and New Year would be severely affected.
