On May 4, 2024, the classical ensemble “Camerata Carnuntum” and Vienna Airport invite you to a kissing anniversary concert in AirportCity. With the introduction of the “9. Symphony” by Ludwig van Beethoven, the Camerata Carnuntum orchestra is celebrating its tenth anniversary – and the 200th anniversary of this masterpiece by Beethoven. With an extraordinary and unique production placed in the orchestra in the middle of the audience, all lovers of classical music can expect a unique experience.
For this event, the Vienna Airport Conference & Innovation Center (in Office Park 4) at Vienna Airport will become a concert hall. Beethoven’s 9th Symphony is presented in a completely new setting, which brings the audience up close to the orchestra. Instead of the usual distance between the audience and the orchestra, an experimental setting was chosen: the 120 musicians and choir members of the Camerata Carnuntum sit in the middle of the audience. This performance promises to be an unforgettable cultural event.
Beethoven’s 9th Symphony
The 9th Symphony was premiered 200 years ago in 1824 and is the last completed symphony by the composer Ludwig van Beethoven. In the final movement of this symphony, vocal soloists and a mixed choir are used in addition to the orchestra. With a duration of around 70 minutes, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony clearly exceeded the usual dimensions at the time and thus prepared the ground for the Romantic symphony, some of which was full-length. Today, “Beethoven’s Ninth” is one of the most famous works of classical music worldwide.
