Ethiopian Airlines is aware that the frequency of its flights in Chinese cities will be increased from February 6, 2023.
The African airline will return to pre-Covid-19 levels after restrictions are lifted by the Chinese government. From February 6, 2023, Ethiopian Airlines will fly daily to Guangzhou, while weekly flights to Beijing and Shanghai will be increased to four each and the three-weekly flight to Chengdu will be maintained. From March 1, 2023, flights will then ramp back up to pre-pandemic levels, with daily flights to Beijing and Shanghai, and ten and five weekly flights to Guangzhou and Chengdu, respectively. As a result, Ethiopian will be offered a total of 28 weekly passenger flights to China as soon as flight operations are fully restored, as the carrier announced in a broadcast.
“We are pleased that, thanks to the Chinese government’s easing of flight restrictions, we are able to increase the frequency of our flights in Chinese cities. China is one of the largest markets for Ethiopian Airlines outside of Africa, and the increase in flight frequencies will help boost trade, investment, cultural cooperation and bilateral cooperation between Africa and China in the post-war period. Thanks to our extensive route network across Africa, increasing the number of flights in Chinese cities will bring Africa and China closer together. We are very interested in expanding our service to China in the future,” said Mesfin Tasew, CEO of the Ethiopian group.
